General Theory

Keep tasks short enough to do in one class period     Break up projects if necessary     Machine the components, inspect, fill out inspection report     Students that get done early get a break Loosen up the tolerances     The best students will use micrometers Projects should be fun, have movement, assemble Let students make what they want somedays     Use their own design on parts of projects     Some days with no assignments Many of these students will never run a machine again Ask myself.  How simple can this be?     Have the complicated setups done for them     Threading w/o releasing the half-nut Early in the year: Saw the material for them Have speeds and feeds set on the machines Tell them the speeds and feeds Have them Make chips     Started on mills with fly-cut blocks
